Diabetes is becoming a major public health concern in Zimbabwe, driven by urbanisation, poor dietary habits, and sedentary lifestyles. Over 5% of adults are affected, with many cases undiagnosed due to limited healthcare access and awareness. Rural areas struggle with detection and treatment, while urban centres face rising Type 2 diabetes rates, even among younger populations. This growing epidemic threatens public health and economic stability. Addressing it requires urgent action through public health education, policy reforms, and strengthened healthcare systems to prevent severe complications and improve disease management.
